Calling it is one voice. Executing it is eleven responses.
Communication rule
Hear the call. Echo the call. Align with urgency.
01
Defense is the standard I use to teach a whole program how to work.
I believe football is won through discipline, elite preparation and teaching athletes to have a high IQ. Alignment, Assignment Technique is what I will preach.
Ashley, Jamarcus, Mya, and Ari are my why. Everything I ask of my players, I first ask of myself at home. Being a husband and a father is where discipline, effort, preparation and adversity stop being football words and become a way of living. I coach young men the way I want my own children coached.
Before Football I'm a leader here first

Call it. Echo it. Execute.

4-2-5 Base Defense
5-2 Front
My pressures are named after players and heroes that I know and that my players know. That makes them easy to recall, easy to repeat, and easy to own when the game speeds up.
The pressure menu runs on a comic book theme, so every call is a name the whole defense already knows.

WOLVERINE

SPIDER-MAN

The M name is the Mike linebacker. The W name is the Will linebacker. MICKEY and WHAM are examples.

I recruit with a system and I recruit in person. I am on the road at camps, on campuses and in living rooms, building the relationships that get athletes and families to trust the program before they ever sign.
01
Identify the right athlete for the scheme and the culture.
02
Consistent, honest communication with the athlete and the family.
03
A real path to the next level, on the field and in the classroom.

Athletes I have recruited and placed are competing at the NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college levels.

I believe football is won with discipline, accountability and assignment football. Every player needs to know his job, do his job and trust the man next to him to do the same. When eleven players handle their responsibility, the defense can play fast and together.
I want a physical, prepared and relentless defense. Physical play is a habit built through the way we practice, and preparation is what lets players play with confidence instead of hesitation. We study situations, communicate the answer and make sure the moment never feels bigger than the work we put into it.
Situational mastery matters because football changes with the down, the distance, the clock and the score. We prepare for those details until the response is clear. That preparation gives our players a chance to be calm, connected and aggressive when the game is on the line.
When the defense sets the tone, it affects the entire program. It raises the standard in the weight room, the classroom, the locker room and the community. I coach players to understand that their habits represent more than themselves.

These are the behaviors I expect from myself, my staff and every player in the program.
01
Always remember you're in the driver seat for your life, have control. Do the little things right, respect yourself and your team.
02
This is uncoachable, you control the tempo each and everyday. A positive attitude radiates, so does lack of effort.
03
Lack of preparation leads to disappointment every time. This is a life mantra not just a football one. Study your craft!
04
Adjust, Overcome, and Adapt. Mental and physical toughness. These traits were engrained into me during my military tenure and are foundational pieces in my life. Be 'fluid' and always ready to adapt to the situation and be ready to think on your feet!
05
I am coaching the whole young man, on the field and off it. The goal is not only to make better football players. It is to help develop disciplined, accountable men who are prepared to lead wherever life takes them.
